The Dallas Mavericks won a close 108-105 battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 63 points, while Anthony Edwards struggled with his shot, shooting 6/16 from the field and finishing with 19 points.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Mavs stealing Game 1 on the road.
Have to change that challenge rule! No way you have 2 successful challenges and can’t anymore for the rest of the game! Makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE

I’m convinced these are the first games people really focusing in on watching Luka Dončić play from a national level…
He has been a great 1-on-1 isolation defender and post defense for a while.
Transition and help side are areas of improvement but he can lock people up.

The Kyrie Irving vs Anthony Edwards matchup will be fascinating all series and decide it. Kyrie played like he was on a mission to make sure the face of the NBA Torch goes to his guy Luka Doncic. pic.twitter.com/IS6nQ858rC

Luka Doncic is one bad bleep-bleeper.

Best player in the world showed us that it’s his league tonight. Walked down the Timberwolves in the clutch, what a special performance from Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were extraordinary. A total takeover. By far the best players in Game 1.

Doncic and Irving will get the headlines, but Gafford and especially Lively won that game for Dallas.

People don’t want to hear this but suddenly Anthony Edwards has become the most overrated player in the league. That’s not to say he’s not good & we don’t love him, we do…….but the best player in this series is Luka by a large margin. It’s debatable if Ant can match Kyrie.

Anthony Edwards 2nd half
0 2-point baskets
2-7 on 3FGIs this your King?

Anthony Edwards was gassed in the fourth quarter, absolutely exhausted.
He wanted the Kyrie Irving matchup and Kyrie made him work all game, #11 had 30 points (52.2% FG).

Tonight, Anthony Edwards played more like a young Michael B. Jordan.
