Manuel Neuer has spoken out about the criticism he has received recently.
Bayern Munich and Germany veteran Manuel Neuer came under heavy fire in the build-up to Euro 2024 after he made a big mistake in the final warm-up friendly against Greece, with some calling for Marc-André ter Stegen to start ahead of him.
But as the 38-year-old goalkeeper insisted at a press conference on Monday, the criticism is not affecting him.
“I looked at it from the outside and didn’t read anything. That’s the way I’ve always done it: I go into the analysis with the people in charge. We discuss everything, look at the pictures and judge everything based on the pictures,” Neuer said.
“That’s why I didn’t think much about the debate. The relationship of trust between the coaches, the players and myself is important. And there is a lot of trust.”
Asked if this will be his last tournament with the German national team, Neuer replied:
“I can’t reveal that yet, but I’ll have my thoughts after the tournament.”
