The second to last week of college football’s regular season gave us a a great look at some of the quarterbacks around the country that are primed to perform with when the playoff spotlight comes on. Ohio State’s Will Howard has been tremendous down the stretch, while some others have tailed off a bit.
It’s remarkable what some young quarterbacks are doing around the country to get their teams in the playoff discussion down the stretch like Sam Leavitt at Arizona State or LaNorris Sellers at South Carolina. One quarterback that’s playing as good as anyone down the stretch is Riley Leonard after being written off early in the year. Then there’s Berhen Morton at Texas Tech who had a career day against Oklahoma State.
Remember for these Power Rankings we do not include quarterbacks who did not play due to a bye week.
We place an emphasis on win-loss record and critical situational outcomes such as third- and fourth-down efficiency, red zone conversion rate, fourth-quarter production, and NFL throw rate. Basic game-winning stats, including touchdown-to-interception ratio, completion percentage, and passing yards were also considered.
