Alabama and Ole Miss have emerged as threats to flip elite 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame, according to national recruiting analyst Tom Loy. Knight only has two college visits lined up, both to South Bend, but alarm bells will go off if he decides to take a trip to Tuscaloosa over the next year.
“The only trips Knight has locked in right now are to South Bend to hang out with head coach Marcus Freeman,” Loy said, via the Football Recruiting Podcast. “He’ll be there in March and again in April for the spring game. But he’s still talking to Alabama. He’s still talking to Ole Miss. Alabama looks like the biggest threat to flip him. Keep an eye on the visits. If he decides to visit Alabama, Notre Dame fans should be on edge, even freaking out — I’m not going to lie. The alarms need to be going off. But until he locks in a visit to Alabama, all is well right now for Notre Dame.”
Knight is rated as the No. 8 quarterback and No. 140 prospect in the class of 2025. Notre Dame offered the four-star prospect last March, and he committed in September over an offer list that included Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee and Oregon, among a host of other college football elite.
The 6-foot-4.5, 195-pound signal-caller appeared in 10 games as a junior for Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.) and George County High School (Miss.) and completed 53.2% of his passes for 2,047 yards and 17 touchdowns with two interceptions. He rushed for 494 yards and 11 scores. He needs to improve as a passer, but his physical makeup makes him “a potential lottery ticket in the 2025 cycle with a monster payout,” according to national recruiting director Andrew Ivins.

“A left-handed, dual-threat talent with an elite physical profile that needs plenty of seasoning if he’s going to reach his full potential,” Ivins wrote in Knight’s scouting report. “He posted Grade-A testing numbers with a laser-timed 4.53 in the 40-yard dash to go along with a 41.9-inch vertical jump and a 4.39 in the short shuttle. Creates plenty of whip and velocity with a shorter release and has the arm strength to attack the deeper third. Must get more consistent with his ball placement, but can pick apart defenses if he finds a rhythm. Will create when protection breaks down and look to extend plays, but has also shown that he’s willing to stand in the pocket and take a hit. Should be viewed as a potential lottery ticket in the 2025 cycle with a monster payout. The good is really good, and the raw traits separate him from a lot of his peers. Built for a modern spread attack.”
