It is official: Arijon Ibrahimović is heading to the Serie A again to join SS Lazio for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. Ibrahimović, of course, had already gone on loan to the league in the 2023/24 season, joining promoted side Frosinone, who have since gone down again. However, this is a completely different caliber of club. Lazio are, at the time of writing, in 4th place in the Serie A and top of the standings in the massive Europa League group stage.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, had this to say via FCBayern.com: “Arijon is a young player with great prospects who’s constantly developing. He was able to gain valuable experience in Serie A last season and is now expected to take the next steps at Lazio. Arijon has been at Bayern since a young age. We want to promote players like him. He gives his all in every training session and now needs regular playing time at a top level. We’ll follow him closely because he has everything you need.”
Ibrahimović, as so many at the Bayern Campus tend to call him, was long regarded as one of the two crown jewels of the Bayern academy alongside Paul Wanner and was rewarded with a long term contract until 2027 over the summer to see him grow closer to the first team. A serious injury around the end of July, unfortunately, scuppered any chance of both his participation in pre-season or a potential loan move away. Still, Ibrahimović has made his debut in all of the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League for the Bavarians this season and now he us looking to make his next step at Lazio. Good luck, Ibrahimović!
