Playing quarterback at Ohio State is a sure bet to get at least a look from NFL scouts, but with so many talented players heading to Columbus, sometimes it takes a bit of patience to get playing time.
Perhaps that’s not the reason former five-star recruit Air Noland is transferring from Ohio State, but either way, he is leaving via the transfer portal.
Noland will be one of the hottest names on the transfer-portal market if only because he comes with a ton of upside with four years of eligibility remaining and hardly any film on him. He signed with OSU in December 2024, but he didn’t play at all his true freshman season.
It’s also worth noting that not long after Noland signed with the Buckeyes, OSU brought in quarterback Julian Sayin via the transfer portal.
Perhaps that’s one of the reasons that Noland is leaving because even with Noland and backup quarterback Devin Brown hitting the transfer portal — not to mention Will Howard running out of eligibility — the Buckeyes still have Sayin, Lincoln Keinholz and Tavien St. Clair in the quarterback room. They’re likely to go after at least one more in the transfer portal, as well.
Wherever Noland ends up, there will be hype. He was ranked as a five-star prospect by Rivals and the No. 4 quarterback in his class according to the 247Sports Composite. He threw for 2,140 yards and 22 touchdowns in his senior year of high school.
