The Oklahoma Sooners are making a big change after Saturday’s ugly loss to South Carolina.
The Sooners are firing offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, according to multiple reports including OUInsider. OUInsider reported that tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley will take over playcalling duties going forward.
Littrell joined Oklahoma as an offensive analyst prior to the 2023 season after spending seven years as head coach at North Texas. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in November 2023 when Jeff Lebby vacated the position to become the new head coach at Mississippi State.
The Sooners must have felt they had to do something after a 35-9 home loss to South Carolina, their third defeat in four games. They scored a total of 27 points in those three losses including just three against Texas in last Saturday’s rivalry game. They have also received some criticism for their handling of the quarterback position this season.
Oklahoma has a tough game at Ole Miss next week and it closes with games against Missouri, Alabama and LSU. Things could certainly get worse if it cannot start putting points on the board more consistently.
