Every single fight on the UFC 300 card was memorable in one way or another, but let’s cut straight to the chase … Max Holloway knocking out Justin Gaethje is the thing that will be remembered until the end of time.
“Blessed” broke Gaethje’s nose in the first round and then just had his way with him for all five rounds. Then, in the final 10 seconds of the fight — when he was up on the scorecards and had everything to lose — Holloway pointed the canvas, and both men went out swinging. Holloway found Gaethje’s chin and put him out cold with one of the best knockouts ever.

During the broadcast of UFC Vegas 91, Charly Arnolt became the first woman to serve as a ring announcer in the promotion’s history … for just two fights.
Arnolt briefly replaced veteran UFC announcer Joe Martinez, who suddenly fell ill (his voice gave out). She announced the Flyweight fight winner between Karine Silva and Ariane da Silva. Then, she introduced Ryan Spann vs. Bogdan Guskov and the eventual winner of that Light Heavyweight fight.

After winning the fight for two rounds, Piera Rodriguez made a decision that cost her the fight against Ariane Carnelossi. Rodriguez intentionally head-butted Carnelossi and was disqualified.
It was a bonehead move.

Newark, New Jersey
Full results
In what turned out to be one of the worst UFC pay-per-views (PPV) of 2024, the one bright spot of the card was the Lightweight championship main event between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier. The two Lightweights went to war for five rounds, scoring a Fight of the Night bonus. Makhachev ended up tapping Poirier with a D’Arce choke.
UFC Louisville: ‘Cannonier vs. Imavov’

Louisville, Kentucky

In the co-main event of UFC Louisville, Dominick Reyes scored his first win in four years when he knocked out Dustin Jacoby.
It was a feel-good moment for a guy who had endured four years of heartbreak and had experienced many downs but no ups.

There’s an argument that UFC Vegas 93 was the worst UFC card of 2024 … it was brutal. But ultimately, there is a worse card (you’ll find out in Part 3).
UFC Saudi Arabia: ‘Whittaker vs. Aliskerov’
June 22, 2024
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

UFC traveled to Saudi Arabia for the first time this year, and it turned out to be a pretty fun card. Ikram Aliskerov stepped in on a week’s notice to fight Robert Whittaker and got starched in less than two minutes to close the show.
UFC 303: ‘Pereira vs. Prochazka 2’
June 29, 2024
Las Vegas, Nevada

Ah, the PPV that was supposed to be Conor McGregor’s return.
Anyways, Dan Ige stepped up on three hours’ notice to fight Diego Lopes to save the UFC 303 co-main event in an unprecedented move. It will probably never happen again, especially on such a major card.
Ige lost a unanimous decision but came on strong at the end. More than anything, “50k” Ige will forever be known as an ultimate badass.
