SAN ANTONIO – As the tight end chips fell across the country, T’Andre Waverly patiently waited to see what opportunities would come.
Early in his recruitment, Washington and Oregon were battling it out.
But behind the scenes, Oregon State stayed involved as other programs went by the wayside and Saturday at the Navy All-American Bowl, Waverly committed to the Beavers over his other finalists Washington and Notre Dame.
After Washington signed three tight ends in its 2025 class and Notre Dame took James Flanigan it became clear that the Beavers looked like the destination for Waverly.
It ended up playing out that way, too.
There is a lot the Mukilteo (Wash.) Kamiak standout likes about the Beavers both on and off the field, the focus he can have in Corvallis and the fact that the program has developed tight ends well over the years.
After patiently waiting to see how everything played out with other programs and other tight ends, Waverly found his home in Corvallis.
Oregon State has two other tight end commits in Cody Siegner and Logan Knapp as the Beavers have now loaded up at the position heading into next season.
IN HIS WORDS
On his official visit: “There were a lot of things they touched on for after football. That was different than other places that stood out. I also like the small-town feel so you can focus on your craft. The coaches talked a lot about development and how they would use my talents.”
On why Oregon State stood out: “On the visit they spent as much time on my development on and off the field. I like the small-town feel to just focus on getting better. Plus, they use and get tight ends to the next level.”
