Check back throughout the offseason for updates on the Orioles’ injuries and roster moves.
Jan. 22: INF Tyler Nevin acquired from Tigers in exchange for cash considerations
Nevin is returning to Baltimore for a second stint with the club. The 26-year-old infielder got his first taste of the Majors with the O’s, playing 64 games between the 2021 and ‘22 seasons. Last offseason, he was dealt to Detroit, where he slashed .200/.306/.316 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 41 games for the Tigers.
The Orioles’ 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
Jan. 22: LHP Cionel Pérez signs one-year deal for 2024, with club option for ’25
Pérez became the 13th of the 17 arbitration-eligible players tendered by the Orioles this offseason to agree to terms. The 27-year-old left-hander has been a key member of Baltimore’s bullpen the past two seasons, recording a 2.43 ERA in 131 appearances during that span.
The four arb-eligible Orioles players who have not yet agreed to terms are left-hander Danny Coulombe, outfielder Austin Hays, first baseman Ryan O’Hearn and right-hander Jacob Webb. They have already exchanged figures with the club and could go to hearings between Jan. 29 and Feb. 16 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
RHP Félix Bautista (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: Spring Training 2025
Bautista attended the opening of the Orioles’ Dominican Academy on Jan. 16 and gave an update on his right elbow, sharing he felt “really good” in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 28-year-old, who has spent time rehabbing in both Sarasota, Fla., and the Dominican Republic, underwent the procedure on Oct. 9 at Trinity Park Surgery Center in Arlington, Texas.
“If I’m ready by the end of the season, then I want to be ready for that as well. Ultimately, that’s not my decision, but my goal is just to be ready as soon as possible,” Bautista said via team interpreter Brandon Quinones. (Last updated: Jan. 16)
