The Magic have been on this track for over a year, looking for long-term help at point guard. They were involved in talks last year for Fred VanVleet before the Raptors held onto him (and subsequently lost him in free agency). Orlando has kicked around every potential option on the board, and the latest interest involves two veterans: Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul, according to sources.

Haliburton, Turner, Smith and Mathurin are all questionable going into Sunday’s game at Charlotte.
Hornets will be without Ball, Hayward, Lowry and Williams.

Every single player who has made 9 All-Star games is in the Hall of Fame.
Except the 9 players who still aren’t eligible: Bron, KD, CP3, Melo, Steph, Harden, AD, Russ
PAUL GEORGE.

More on this storyline
The other name mentioned is Chris Paul. The Warriors are obviously keen to shuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic that is their season. Details of talks aren’t known, but Jonathan Isaac and Moses Moody are players each team has interest in for a potential deal. Whether the Magic and Warriors are willing to trade those players may be an entirely different question. -via Action Network / February 4, 2024
Anthony Slater: Dario Saric is out for the Warriors tomorrow in Memphis. Illness. Draymond Green is probable. Knee contusion. Moses Moody, Chris Paul and Gary Payton II remain out. -via Twitter @anthonyVslater / February 1, 2024
The Golden State Warriors have no interest in moving Draymond Green or Klay Thompson before the trade deadline, according to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst. Speaking on “SportsCenter,” Windhorst added the Warriors could look into trading Chris Paul, who is on an expiring contract, or Andrew Wiggins, who has had a difficult season with the team. -via ESPN / February 1, 2024
(If Lowry is in fact bought out, expect the Philadelphia 76ers to have interest, although that information was prior to Joel Embiid’s meniscus injury last weekend.) -via Action Network / February 4, 2024
Charlotte still considers Lowry a possible re-trade candidate, sources said, while the Hornets are also evaluating trade options for Gordon Hayward, sources said. Two other players receiving quite a bit of interest from rival teams are P.J. Washington and reserve center Nick Richards, according to league sources. -via Yahoo! Sports / February 2, 2024
A buyout can certainly be considered likely when it comes to Kyle Lowry. I’m told that Philadelphia is among the teams that would indeed have interest in Lowry, who turns 38 in March, if he negotiates a settlement with the Hornets on what’s left of his expiring $29.7 million salary. -via marcstein.substack.com / January 29, 2024
