One of the top wide receivers in the Big Ten may soon be in search of a new team.
Penn State star wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith has been away from the team this week and is strongly considering entering the transfer portal, sources tell 247Sports.
Lambert-Smith, whom NFL scouts consider an early-round prospect for the 2025 NFL draft, led Penn State last year with 53 catches for 673 yards with four touchdowns. Lambert-Smith posted a career-high 123 yards and two touchdowns during the Nittany Lions’ season-opening win over West Virginia. It was one of four times last season that Lambert-Smith finished with at least 85 yards in a game against a Power Five opponent for Penn State, which finished the season 10-3.
It came after the former Class of 2020 four-star recruit tallied 24 catches, 389 yards and four touchdowns for the Nittany Lions in 2022 and 34 catches for 521 yards and three TDs in 2021.
At least some NFL scouts had third-to-fourth round draft grades on Lambert-Smith as early as last offseason, but he ultimately decided to return for a fifth season at Penn State. Now though, it’s very much possible that he could be continuing his college career elsewhere.
Losing Lambert-Smith would be a big blow for a Nittany Lions expected to once again be one of the top teams in the Big Ten and a legitimate contender for the College Football Playoff.
