Professional Fighters League (PFL) is set to stage its first event of 2025, as “Road to Dubai” goes down this weekend (Sat., Jan 25) inside Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, featuring a Lightweight title fight between division king, Usman Nurmagomedov, taking on Irish sensation, Paul Hughes.
Before the two fighters throw down in what should be a highly-competitive fight, take a look behind the scenes as each man goes through the paces during fight week. In episode 2 of “Road to Dubai” — see episode one here — take a closer look at Hughes’ preparations for his biggest fight to date.
Among his many duties prior to fight week — aside from trying to keep his weight down and training — are the never-ending media obligations which some fighters seem to enjoy more than others.
For Hughes (13-1), his fast track toward a title shot happened rather quickly, winning his first two fights under the PFL banner, which includes a huge victory over A.J. McKee in his most recent outing. As for Nurmagomedov, this will be his fourth title defense. “Road to Dubai” will also feature a Heavyweight fight between former Bellator Light Heavyweight champion, Vadim Nemkov, taking on longtime veteran, Tim Johnson.
