Screw Rocky! “The Underground King” is the man in Philly.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion turned Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) fighter Eddie Alvarez returns to action for his third appearance in BKFC later this month (Sat., Jan. 25, 2025) against fellow UFC vet Jeremy Stephens in the main event of Knucklemania 5, which goes down inside Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Last month, the two fighters faced off in “The City of Brotherly Love” ahead of their fight for promotional content, and apparently, Stephens left a very bad impression in Philadelphia.
And now, the city wants Alvarez to make him pay.
“I mean, it was funny. Within five minutes of being in Philadelphia, he was called a dork and a dickhead. It was pretty Philly. That’s about as Philly as it gets,” Alvarez told Home of Fight recently. “He came over here and wanted to be a full heel. Say sh-t about the city. And I’m just lucky enough that the city chose me to go out there and execute this clown and finish him out.
“I’ve been given a task by the city,” Alvarez added. “There was no reason to come here and say sh-t about the city. He probably would have been better off talking sh-t about me or something like that. But there’s an obligation I have to fulfill, and that’s to execute him in front of the people he was talking sh-t about.”
According to Stephens, “The Underground King” is too slow and too stiff to win.
It’s a good thing everyone only has to wait three more weeks for them to collide in what should be a violent fight for as long as it lasts.
