Bayern Munich bounced back after dropping points last time out in the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund — and subsequently getting bounced from the DFB-Pokal by Bayer Leverkusen — with a 4-2 win over FC Heidenheim that exploded to life in the final ten minutes and change.
Credit to Frank Schmidt’s men: if Bayern thought they could rest easy, and perhaps they did after Leon Goretzka’s 85th minute goal to make it 3-1, Heidenheim had other ideas.
Niklas Dorsch hit back immediately and the underdogs chased the game to its frenetic conclusion. Jamal Musiala put the finishing touches on the Bayern victory by getting behind the entire Heidenheim defense — which had bravely pushed forward to try to nick a point off the Bavarians.
That certainly was not the story of the whole game:
