UCLA football is in the thick of a head coaching search after Chip Kelly departed his position to become the new offensive coordinator at Ohio State on Friday. The Bruins are likely at a disadvantage in the process given how late it is in the coaching cycle with National Signing Day already completed and the spring transfer portal still two months away when it comes to roster moves.
As the search moves deeper into the process, there are several names connected to the vacant position of head coach at UCLA, but one serious candidate in particular has since emerged, according to Bruin Report Online. The Bruins administration has options as far as targets to pursue, whether that be coaches with connections to UCLA, sitting coordinators or position coaches.
UCLA is soon to be on its sixth head coach of the century. Kelly was in charge of the Bruins for six seasons. He led the program to winning records in each of the past three seasons after losing marks during each of his first three years in Los Angeles. So, who are some potential candidates and names to know?
