The 2024 high school football season is quickly approaching an end as most of the country prepares for the postseason. In this week’s “Who We Watched,” where the 247Sports national scouting and recruiting teams combine to provide the most in-depth nationwide scouting notes from Week 10 of the high school football season.
This week’s edition of “Who We Watched” features 40 prospects from nearly every region of the country, including the No. 1 player in the class of 2025, multiple five-stars, and plenty of 2026 prospects ahead of the upcoming Nov. 13 rankings update.
Similar to last season, we expect a Monday publish date for each of these loaded notes packages.
We will provide a lengthy list of prospects watched in person, on TV broadcasts and via the wonderful modern technological tool of online streams (this does not include the countless hours of tape). For further organizational sake, we will list players by region or state. Examples: Midwest, East (think DMV to the Northeast), South, Florida, Texas, California or West Coast, etcetera.

FLORIDA
Jake Kreul, 2026 EDGE (live stream): IMG Academy’s trip to East St. Louis turned into a defensive slugfest and one of the brightest spots for the Ascenders was Kreul, who constantly brought pressure for the corner. Kreul finished the night with two sacks and two pressures. He also forced a fumble before the referees ruled that the quarterback’s arm was moving forward.
Extremely advanced from a technical standpoint, Kreul’s tool box is already equipped with a variety of different pass rush moves as he can swim and rip his way around offensive tackles or walk them back with his reach. Already ranked as the No. 7 edge defender for his class, Kreul’s ceiling might hinge on how big he can get in the coming years. — 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins
Cameron McHaney, 2026 DL (live stream): McHaney was another front-line defender that delivered for IMG Academy at East St. Louis as he made a key stop on fourth and goal from the five-yard line before registering a sack late in the fourth quarter.
A summer arrival from Indiana who wasn’t initially expected to be a starter this season, McHaney is already drawing some comparisons from the IMG Academy staff to Oklahoma defensive lineman Jayden Jackson, who is playing as a true freshman for the Sooners. McHaney might be under 6-foot-1, but he’s a ball of power and one with a spark in his lower half, which is backed up by a head-turning 97 explosion score per NextGen Prospects. — Ivins
Eric McFarland, 2028 WR (live stream): The initial rankings for the class of 2028 won’t come out until next summer, but McFarland has firmly put himself on the watchlist for a spot in the initial top 100. A modern-day slot merchant, McFarland caught the game-winning overtime touchdown pass for IMG Academy in the 14-13 win at East St. Louis.
McFarland won’t blow many away with his size, but the Las Vegas native just finds ways to get open as he attacks soft spots in zone coverage. In the victory, McFarland unofficially caught nine passes as he was a favorite for SMU quarterback commit Ty Hawkins. That’s after scoring four first-quarter touchdowns last month against Mt. Zion Academy of Maryland. — Ivins
