Pleasanton (Calif.) Amador Valley quarterback Tristan Ti’a is headed to the Pac-12. The dual-threat standout announced his commitment to Oregon State Monday.
Here is everything you need to know.
WHAT TRISTAN TI’A SAYS ABOUT OREGON STATE
“It felt as if I was at home still.”
“I love coach (Trent) Bray‘s mindset and the way he leads the team and focuses on the small things.”
“Everything he and coach (Ryan) Gunderson, and all the other coaches were preaching were in exact alignment with what my dad, family and coaches preach over here.”
WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX
Ti’a had offers from San Jose State, Boston College, Colorado State and Appalachian State, as well as Montana, prior to the offer from Oregon State. Utah had also offered him over the weekend, but Ryan Gunderson had long been watching Ti’a and the Beavers offered him on the visit this weekend.
WHERE TRISTAN TI’A RANKS AS A RECRUIT
Tia is a three-star by 247Sports, the No. 52 quarterback nationally and the No. 87 prospect in the state of California in the 2025 class.
HOW TRISTAN TI’A FITS WITH OREGON STATE
The Beavers have two transfer portal quarterbacks with eligibility, current starter Gevani McCoy and backup Gabarri Johnson. They also signed Kallen Gutridge in 2024, who is a true freshman. So there is a chance for Ti’a to compete next year in an otherwise short depth chart.
WHAT WE THINK ABOUT TRISTAN TI’A
Ti’a is a player we’ve loved all offseason — from the 7v7 circuit, to the Spring Showcase we saw in the Bay Area, to the Under Armour Next Camp in Seattle and then the Sac State Mega Camp. He only played half of his junior season so a lot of schools wanted to see him in senior film and he didn’t disappoint, with a number of offers coming in. Most importantly, though, Oregon State, which had seen him throw at the spring showcase and at Sac State, watched his early senior film and found that the strong-armed and athlete Ti’a is an optimal fit for Ryan Gunderson’s offense. He’s got a quick release, not a lot of wasted motion and can put the ball in tight spaces. His ability to run (he’s clocked a 4.2 shuttle) is an added dimension to his well-rounded game.
