While there were notable changes to the latest Top247 player recruiting rankings for the 2025 class, the two quarterbacks at the top of the list remained the same. LSU commit Bryce Underwood is still ahead of Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair — but the gap between them has narrowed. St. Clair received a slight bump in his rating as the pairing now both hold that coveted 99 grade.
“I think there’s a good chance both could finish with 100s next to their name and that will put them in a rare category,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins said on the College Football Recruiting Show. “Only three other times in the 247Sports era have we had multiple quarterbacks with triple-digit grades — that was 2018 with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, 2020 with Bryce Young and [DJ Uiagaleleli], and 2023 with Arch Manning, Nico Iamaleava and Dante Moore. That’s a pretty talented group.”
Although Underwood remains a “can’t miss” quarterback prospect in the 2025 class, St. Clair recently improved his stock after an “Alpha Dog” performance at the Elite 11 Finals in June.
