With college football’s spring semester drop-add dates ending, most of the transfer portal’s top players in the 2024 cycle announced their decisions and enrolled at new schools. However, a few high-impact options in remain in the updated best-available top 10.
There is not a single player ranked inside the top 50 who is uncommitted with the start of spring practice a few weeks away. Another portal window comes later this spring as well. Several players in recent days entered the portal, but then chosen to withdraw, including Washington’s Peyton Walters. Coaching changes often make players look in another direction before they meet with the new staff and discuss their fit.
Teams, for the most part, are putting together their two-deeps ahead of spring practice and at this point, only look for immediate depth options are potential fill-ins.

Here’s a look at the 10 best-available players in the portal as of Sunday, Feb. 4:
1. Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona

Arizona cornerback Tacario Davis entered the transfer portal recently as the wave of departures out of Tucson continues. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound soon-to-be junior made 11 starts for the Wildcats this past season and led the Pac-12 with 15 pass breakups. Davis earned second-team All-Pac-12 while finishing with a career-high 25 total tackles and an interception. He made significant strides as a sophomore and should be a hot commodity for programs in need of a cornerback with multiple years of eligibility remaining.
2. Rashad Amos, RB, Miami University

The former four-star South Carolina signee, who left the Gamecocks after three seasons for greener pastures with Miami, is on the market again after rushing for 1,075 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. He is the top ballcarrier available and should command power conference offers given his production in a starring role this season for the first time in his career. Rashad Amos averaged 5.5 yards per carry as a freshman in the SEC in 2020, but played minimal snaps during Will Muschamp‘s final year at South Carolina.
3. Benjamin Yurosek, TE, Stanford

Texas is reportedly set to host Benjamin Yurosek after he caught 108 passes for 1,342 yards and five touchdowns during his career at Stanford in the Pac-12. However, that was before the Longhorns landed the No. 1 tight end transfer. Yurosek garnered first-team All-Pac-12 mention ahead of the 2023 season and is a plug-and-play talent. The 6-foot-4, 242-pounder was a four-star recruit and rated as the nation’s No. 13 tight end while in high school. He held offers from other programs like Washington, UCLA, Colorado and Nebraska.
4. Denver Harris, CB, LSU

Explains Geaux247’s Bryce Koon, the former Texas A&M Aggie arrived in Baton Rouge poised to be a big piece to the LSU secondary puzzle. One of the biggest needs was thought to be addressed when Denver Harris arrived on campus. While the former Aggie was involved in some off-field issues while in College Station, Brian Kelly and the Tigers’ staff felt they had vetted Harris properly before taking his commitment out of the portal. He played in five games and made three starts this past season, recording seven total tackles, six of which were solo stops, with two pass breakups in the secondary.
5. Paki Finau, OT, Washington

Four-star offensive line prospect Paki Finau initially signed and enrolled at Washington before the departure of coach Kalen DeBoer. The 6-foot-5, 253-pound tackle was a touted prospect in the 2024 high school recruiting class. Finau was a participant at the Polynesian Bowl and held numerous power conference offers coming out of Hesperia (Calif.) Oak Hills where he was a two-way standout in the trenches. Finau also has a wrestling background and could play guard or tackle wherever he lands in college.
6. Jordan McCloud, QB, JMU

The best quarterback available in the transfer portal, Jordan McCloud played a big part in leading James Madison to an 11-1 record while throwing for 3,400 yards with 32 touchdowns and nine interceptions, completing 68.9% of his passes. McCloud also ran for 311 yards and eight touchdowns this season. McCloud was one of four quarterbacks to pass for at least 3,400 yards and run for at least 300 yards, along with North Carolina’s Drake Maye, Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels. South Carolina is one of the teams that had been most interested in McCloud before picking up Robby Ashford from Auburn in mid-January.
7. Tre Smith, Edge, San Jose State

San Jose State’s top edge rusher entered the portal the final week of January after the program’s coaching change. Tre Smith notched a spot on the first-team All-MWC honors after accumulating 66 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and forced a fumble in 13 games. He’s one of several San Jose State players available, none of the all-conference variety like Smith, however. With all coaching alterations, players have 30 days to make themselves available following a change in leadership.
8. Audric Harris, WR, Arizona

One of Arizona’s 2024 signing class additions, Audric Harris decided to enter the portal when Jedd Fisch left for the Washington vacancy. This comes a few weeks after Harris told 247Sports that Arizona “felt like home” because of his relationship with the coaching staff. There is a chance that he lands at Washington, if Fisch determines that he is a fit within the current wideout room for the Huskies. Harris is a three-star talent that rated as the 48th-best wide receiver in the 2024 high school recruiting class.
9. Tyreek Chappell, CB, Texas A&M
247Sports transfer ranking: No. 288
Tyreek Chappell visited several schools, including Oregon, Georgia and Syracuse, but remains undecided. A three-year starter for Texas A&M, Chappell registered 21 tackles with an interception last season. He ended his Aggies career with 108 tackles, including six for loss, two interceptions and 26 pass break-ups. He’s the second-best available cornerback still on the market, joining former Texas A&M teammate Denver Harris, who played at LSU last season.
10. Corey Dyches, TE, Maryland
247Sports transfer ranking: No. 406
Corey Dyches earned third-team All-Big Ten honors in 2023, posting 491 yards on 49 catches with two touchdowns. He started the season with 108 yards on six catches and a touchdown against Towson, but hit a lull in the middle of the season before finally reaching the end zone against Rutgers. In 2022, Dyches appeared in 13 games, including four starts, while splitting reps with eventual Alabama transfer CJ Dippre. Dyches earned All-Big Ten honorable mention in his junior season last year and has played in 37 games across his three years for the Terps.
