29’: GOOOAAALLL! Michael Olise tricks the keeper on the clearance and calmly slots in the finish.
25’: GOOOAAALLL! Harry Kane’s shot bounces off the keeper’s hands, Thomas Müller slides all out for the tap-in.
23’: Both teams trading chances, but the defenses have stood tall.
10’: GOOOAAALLL! Eric Dier is left unmarked right in front of the keeper. Joshua Kimmich’s corner kick makes it simple, but Dier powers in the header anyway.
7’: Daniel Peretz looks calm making a save from an outside shot. Good to see him looking more comfortable.
1’: No mercy! Okay, a little mercy. A fair amount of mercy will be acceptable.
Vincent Kompany is treating the starting lineup like a true dress rehearsal. Eric Dier is in the starting lineup to reconnect with Kim Min-jae. The only real surprise is Thomas Müller starting ahead of Jamal Musiala. Given the revolving door of mass substitutions used in friendlies, Müller’s presence will be crucial in keeping Bayern organized throughout the match.
Bayern Munich will take a quick trip to Austria for a friendly with RB Salzburg. Bayern will use the game as a tune-up for the Gladbach match this upcoming weekend. Staying healthy is the name of the game for Bayern, while Salzburg’s young squad will spend more time arguing over postgame jersey swaps.
Odds: Bayern (-370), Draw (+525), RB Salzburg (+700), Over/Under 3.5 goals
Prediction: Bayern wins, 3-2. A sloppy affair, mainly due to the rain, wind, and dementors swirling the pitch. Harry Kane finally misses a penalty kick but juggles the rebound into the back of the net. Michael Olise makes one of his patented dribbles across the top of the box and the keeper has no chance against Olise’s bender. Salzburg catches a lucky deflection on a corner kick, before leveling the score on a penalty kick of their own. Thomas Müller plays a magnificent assist to Serge Gnabry as time expires. Müller celebrates like he’s won the Quidditch House Cup in his seventh year at Hogwarts.
It’s Bayern time.
