Cameron Sparks has what it takes to be an elite play-maker at the next level.
A four-star athlete from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sparks is ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports composite board. He’s also a top-50 overall recruit in the country.
Those are big-time rankings and Sparks seemingly has his mind set on playing big-time college football. The rising Baylor School senior recently released his top-six and it’s chock-full of blue blood programs.
His finalists are Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Michigan and Tennessee.
Though this could still go any way, it does sound like the four-star has eyes for the SEC.
“Georgia, Tennessee and Auburn are in the SEC, which in my opinion is the hardest conference in college football,” Sparks told On3, explaining his list. “They have shown that they can develop players to get to the next level. I think Florida State is a powerhouse and Miami is recruiting well and they will be good in the years to come. Then, Michigan is coming off a good season. They have a good program and they have a good history up there.”
If there is a school to keep an eye on here, obviously the Tennessee Volunteers have to feel okay about their chances of keeping Sparks in state. Proximity and family comfort do seem important to him, but they are not the only things.
“I am looking for a place where I can get on the field the fastest and the coaches have the greatest relationship with me and my family,” Sparks said. “I also want it to be a place where my family is comfortable sending me to for three or four years.”
Whichever way this goes, it’s going to be a major recruiting battle between some of the top programs in college football.
