Recruiting ranking: 4-star recruit in 2018 class, No. 214 overall
“The Huskies were named winners of the Joe Moore Award, given to the best offensive line in college football. Washington had three players feature in all 13 games: left tackle Troy Fautanu, right tackle Roger Rosengarten and left guard Nate Kalepo. They were all four-star recruits for the Huskies; Fautanu and Rosengarten were the No. 1 prospects in their respective states in their class (Fautanu in Nevada in 2019 and Rosengarten in Colorado in 2020).
“The other 13-game starter was center Parker Brailsford. He was a high 3-star recruit, the No. 7 prospect in Arizona in 2022. The other three players who combined for 13 starts, center Matteo Mele, guard Julius Buelow and guard Geirean Hatchett, were all four-stars in their respective classes of 2018, 2019 and 2020.
“So who is the best linemen of them all? Brailsford has clearly punched above his weight and ranking, starting on a playoff team as a redshirt freshman despite being the lone three-star recruit. But from a Pro Football Focus and national standpoint, the standout has been Fautanu, who won the Morris Award in the Pac-12, voted on by the league’s defensive linemen and given to the most outstanding offensive lineman in the conference.” — Huffman
