Renato Moicano might already have his next opponent lined up after his unexpected title fight appearance.
Saturday’s UFC 311 main event went poorly for Moicano, who stepped up to fight lightweight champion Islam Makhachev on less than 48 hours’ notice after Makhachev’s original opponent Arman Tsarukyan withdrew due to a back injury. Moicano was already on the card having been scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush, but being in fight shape did him little good as Makhachev submitted him inside of a round.
One fighter happy to kick Moicano while he is down is Paddy Pimblett, who has frequently traded verbal shots with Moicano in the past. In a reaction video, Pimblett blasted Moicano for tapping out to Makhachev’s D’Arce choke.
Moicano caught wind of those comments and offered a heated response to his longtime rival.
Paddy pimblitch is talking shit! Let me tell you something you gonna tap if we fight! You never got a short notice fight in your life imagine one day notice! #ufc #mma

Paddy pimblitch is talking shit! Let me tell you something you gonna tap if we fight! You never got a short notice fight in your life imagine one day notice!
This led to a back-and-forth between the lightweight contenders, with Pimblett writing that Moicano “quit” and he expects to do the same should they meet in the octagon. Moicano replied that judges won’t help Pimblett in their fight, to which Pimblett answered, “I won’t need judges for you they’ll have the night off if we fight. Just make sure you don’t tap when I choke you.”
I’m not talking shit Renato I’m talking facts u tapped after like 2 seconds like a bitch only chance you’ll ever get to be a @ufc world champ & u quit like an absolute sausage! I’d make u quit just like Islam did you https://t.co/rDOYACDx3V

For now, Moicano took the last word, simply tagging UFC CEO Dana White and asking him to “just book this fight already.”
Moicano and Pimblett have often discussed fighting one another during their rise through the ranks over the past few years. Before his short-notice loss to Makhachev, Moicano had won four straight fights. Pimblett is currently 6-0 in the UFC with recent wins over veterans King Green and Tony Ferguson.
At the moment, Pimblett’s dance card is free, and Moicano could be looking to make a quick turnaround after his disappointing night at UFC 311.
