Dating back to his first start for Bayern Munich in 2019 at the age of 18, Alphonso Davies has served as the guaranteed starter at left-back. Davies spent most of his youth development as an attacking player. When he arrived at Bayern, the club decided to push him back to defense where he is still encouraged to make as many forward runs as possible.
Davies’ contract is schedule to expire in the summer of 2025. This means that on January 1st, he’ll be able to sign a pre-contract with any club who can afford his services.
Bild reporter Christian Falk delivered the latest update (via @iMiaSanMia):
Alphonso Davies and his agent want to wait until January for the next talks with Bayern because they have arranged meetings with Manchester United and Real Madrid to hear out their offers. They’re in no hurry to make a decision now. Bayern are putting pressure on the player and his entourage to sign before January 1, but it’s unlikely that a decision will take place this month.
There has been an increased optimism at Säbener Straße that Davies will sign an extension with Bayern that will keep him at the club for many years to come.
