In a turn of tables, Bayern Munich could now be on the verge of sealing a contract extension for left-back and Canadian men’s national team star Alphonso Davies.
The parties had been close to a deal two springs ago, but the sacking of former sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić — who brought Davies to Bavaria — had thrown a wrench in the situation. Davies is out of contract next June, and clubs from Real Madrid to Manchester United were rumored to have turned his head.
But Davies has enjoyed a roaring start to his 2024/25 campaign under first-year Bayern coach Vincent Kompany — and now the man once hailed as one of the future faces of the club may just become just that.
As shared on social media by Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg:
Excl | FC Bayern have made significant progress regarding a contract extension with Alphonso #Davies beyond 2025 ✔️
Negotiations are ongoing and positive, key figures already discussed. But some more details need to be clarified.
The focus is on a new long-term contract. In terms of salary, Davies has made significant concessions to Bayern. Further crucial talks are set to take place before Christmas. Not a done deal yet.
Manchester United are also aware that Davies is likely to sign a new contract with Bayern. #MUFC

What about Real Madrid? The Spanish giants may have to look elsewhere for their next Galáctico. This is good — no, great — news for FC Bayern.
