According to a report from A bola (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is contemplating a big money move for a center-back — maybe as early as this month.
Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande seems to be the preferred target of Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl:
Bayern want Sporting center-back Ousmane Diomande (21) and will try to anticipate the move this month. The defender has been on Bayern’s radar for a long time and things could now become concrete. Max Eberl was in Lisbon recently to enquire about the player. Bayern were initially planning to bid for Diomande in the summer, but the competition could now make them make a move this month. An offer could arrive in the coming days. The player has a release clause of €80m, but Sporting would be willing to negotiate from €50m.
This is not the first time that Bayern Munich has expressed interest in Diomande, though. Back in 2023, Bayern Munich was kicking the tires on him as well. Regardless, if the report is true, it appears as if Bayern Munich is lining him up as a potential third center-back for a rotation either this month or in the summer when Eric Dier is expected to leave the club.
