While Bayern Munich is poised to kick off a blockbuster transfer pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz, another young attacking midfielder is already waiting in the wings…and he is one to watch.
Paul Wanner, only 18 years of age, is currently on loan assignment at FC Heidenheim — whom the Bavarians play this weekend. Last season, the youngster had a productive spell at Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga. And his next destination could be yet another step up, per a report detailed in Sport Bild.

Eintracht Frankfurt are very interested in Paul Wanner. Should they qualify for next season’s Champions League, it could be Wanner’s third and last loan station to get Champions League experience and return to Bayern as a mature player [@altobelli13, @cfbayern]
Frankfurt is currently coached by former Bayern assistant Dino Toppmöller, who was Germany men’s national team coach Julian Nagelsmann’s right hand during his time in Bavaria. Die Adler are this season’s second-best team so far and maintaining solid pressure — sitting four points behind Bayern after 12 matchdays. Toppmöller has his side on the up and up, and an exciting young creative talent could be just as important to them as the step up in quality would be for the young Wanner.
Wanner has always chosen his career steps with care — declining a Germany senior team call-up in order to focus on the U-21s, where he can practice being a key figure on a national team side. And his promise is clearly extraordinary, with both Germany and Austria heavily courting his senior international team commitment.
One more loan to complete his training…Bayern could be getting a monster back in 2026/27.
