According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is still working on a deal for FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig:
Negotiations between FC Bayern and Köln over an immediate transfer of Jonas #Urbig are ongoing. Bayern remain determined to sign the 21-year-old top talent. Personal terms 100 % agreed.
Bayern do not want to pay more than €6-7 million as a fixed fee. Max Eberl told Sky today: “We are trying to build a squad for FC Bayern that will be successful in the coming years. For example, Manuel Neuer, who may extend until 2026 and then leave when his contract expires. You have to prepare for these things.”
FC Köln sporting director Christian Keller does not sound like he is eager to let Urbig walk.
“As things stand, we’re not getting any money at all for Jonas Urbig. He’s in the squad today. He is theoretically and practically fit to play. I’m happy that he is our player,” Keller told Sport1 (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
When asked about a potential move this month, Keller did not waver: “For that intention to change, a lot would have to happen.”
It seems as if Bayern Munich is set on this move, but timing is the issue. Will the Bavarians pony up enough to get a deal done this month?
