According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Mathys Tel’s future at Bayern Munich is increasingly in doubt because of his lack of development and not having a defined position:
The future of Mathys Tel is increasingly being questioned. The Frenchman just can’t find his way around at Bayern and is still expected to be loaned out. Tel’s development stagnated despite his big potential, also because he couldn’t find a permanent position. Tel would have liked to fill the role of a second striker behind Harry Kane, and that was also discussed when he extended his contract in March this year. However, Bayern currently have other plans there.
After a strong 2023/24 campaign, Tel has been unable to find a regular spot in Vincent Kompany’s rotation. In addition, Tel has not looked overly comfortable at any of the positions where Kompany has used him. Given that, a loan would probably be the best scenario so that the player and the club can get a fresh start and buy some time to figure out what might be next for the young Frenchman.
