Rex Ryan has never been one to bite his tongue, whether as the head coach of the New York Jets or as a broadcaster on ESPN.
Recently, he made a comment that fired up one playoff team, and on Sunday morning, he had to take it like a man and eat his words.
When previewing the NFL’s Wild Card round recently, Ryan said that the Los Angeles Chargers were getting a “bye week” by drawing the Houston Texans in their first game.
However, after the Texans dismantled the Chargers 32-12 on Saturday noon, Ryan went on air and said, “Who had a worse day, me or Justin Herbert? You gotta tip your hat to them. Sorry, Houston. But I’m not picking you next week either! Or maybe I will…”

Ryan laughed as he was shown clips from the Texans’ postgame locker room celebration, during which players and coaches joked about his bye-week comment.
Many agreed with Ryan and believed the Chargers would beat the Texans.
Los Angeles was favored to win, and the Chargers had been playing much better than the Texans leading up to the postseason.
Still, Houston turned the game upside down by consistently shutting down the passing game and intercepting Justin Herbert four times, after he had thrown just three interceptions in the entire regular season.
Houston now awaits the winner of the final AFC Wild Card game to determine whether it will head to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs or head over to Baltimore to face the Ravens in its quest to make it to the AFC Championship game for the first time in franchise history.
