In a sensational display of wrist-spin mastery, Noor Ahmad turned the tide of the SA20 2025 clash between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and the Durban Super Giants with back-to-back Zak Crawley and Aiden Markram dismissals.
Noor Ahmad spins a web against Sunrisers Eastern Cape
First, Noor outfoxed Zak Crawley, on the second ball of the 10th over, with a beautifully flighted delivery that dipped deceptively mid-air. Crawley, who was well-set with 38 off 29 balls and striking briskly, lunged forward but failed to get close to the ball. The delivery spun viciously past his inside edge and flattened middle stump, leaving Crawley visibly shell-shocked as Noor celebrated a pivotal breakthrough.
Riding high on momentum, Noor unleashed another masterpiece to dismiss Markram on the very next ball. This time, the delivery was fired in full and skidded back sharply from outside off stump. Markram, attempting an ambitious drive, was beaten all ends up as the ball deflected off his pads. Though initial appeals seemed half-hearted, the review proved decisive, revealing three reds on Ball Tracking and sealing Markram’s fate for a golden duck. The ball was shown to be crashing into the top of middle and leg stump, underlining Noor’s precision and control. These two wickets in consecutive deliveries derailed Eastern Cape’s batting and showcased Noor’s ability to seize the moment under pressure.

Eastern Cape struggles against Durban Super Giants’ bowling attack
Elected to bat first, Eastern Cape got off to a cautious start, losing David Bedingham early for 10. Crawley anchored the innings with a fluent 38 off 29 balls, providing some stability during the powerplay. However, the Super Giants struck back with precision in the middle overs. Noor’s brilliance turned the tide in the 10th over when he dismissed Crawley and Markram off consecutive deliveries. This double breakthrough left Eastern Cape reeling at 75/3. Jordan Hermann tried to stabilize the innings but fell soon after, courtesy of another clever delivery from Noor. Despite Tom Abell’s resilient 47 not out, the Super Giants’ disciplined bowling – led by Noor’s figures of 3 for 14 and supported by Naveen-ul-Haq – kept Eastern Cape in check. At 117/4 in 15.1 overs, Eastern Cape needs a late surge to set a competitive target.
