Don’t look now but Michigan State is suddenly extending the reach of its recruiting efforts far outside its home base of the Midwest and asserting itself in other markets, particularly the DMV.
Tom Izzo landed a commitment from Cam Ward on Tuesday. He announced his decision in a ceremony at Largo High School in Maryland, that aired on the 247Sports Channel.
Ward is a four-star prospect and ranked No. 54 overall in the national class. He chose the Spartans over more local options like Maryland and Virginia, as well as Kansas State. He joins Jordan Scott, the No. 52 overall prospect in the country, from nearby South Lakes High School in Virginia, as part of the Michigan State’s 2025 recruiting class to date.
