For Shakhtar Donetsk coach Marino Pušić, Bayern Munich is one of those rare teams that he does not have to think about whether his team will be “up” for the match.
“You don’t need to motivate your players for such matches. When you face one of the best clubs in the world, that in itself is motivation. Of course, I will tell them a couple of things about how to play this game and what to do, but I think everyone is already highly motivated when playing in the Champions League, especially against such opponents,” said Pušić (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Therefore, the match itself is already motivation. I believe in my team. Everything good starts with believing in it. In my opinion, we played many matches in the Champions League – both in the previous format and in this one – where we showed qualities and a high level.
“We are looking forward to the game and I’m very confident in my players, especially in their character and in the way they want to show themselves. We have to be at 100% tomorrow. We have to be perfect in everything, playing against such opponents, and everyone on the pitch has to be fantastic in all aspects. As I said, this is a great match, a great challenge for us. We are a team that has nothing to lose, we can only win in these matches. And we, of course, will try to do that.”
Say what you will, but that is a hell of a good attitude to take into this Champions League contest.
