A couple of months ago, the Cincinnati Bengals were out of the playoff picture.
They were below .500 for most of the 2024 NFL season.
However, the Bengals have mounted a serious charge in recent weeks and have given themselves an outside chance of making the postseason.
Cincinnati needed a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18 and got it as they edged out their AFC North rivals 19-17.
Now, the Bengals will be scoreboard-watching as they need both the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos to lose to qualify.
Miami takes on the New York Jets, who are favored to win with Tua Tagovailoa out.
Denver should beat a Kansas City team that will be without regulars like Patrick Mahomes.
While Cincinnati has an uphill climb to sneak in, Skip Bayless has been impressed with Joe Burrow’s play during this recent stretch via his personal X account.
“JOE BURROW: WORLD’S BEST QUARTERBACK, NOW PLAYING HIS BEST EVER,” Bayless tweeted.

Burrow has been on a tear during the Bengals’ winning streak, routinely making throws downfield and connecting with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
While quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson lead the MVP race, Burrow should still receive votes for what he’s managed to do.
The Bengals know they have a superstar in Burrow, but even they have to be amazed by how well he’s been playing.
Even if Burrow and company don’t make the playoffs, there’s optimism that he can carry this level of play into next season.
