Each week, throughout the college football season, alumni, fans, media and the teams themselves look to the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll to see who is rising and moving within the national rankings.
The Big South-OVC Football Association loves to have teams ranked in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, but the scenario involving UT Martin and Tennessee State appears best being answered on the field.
That’s what they’ll do Saturday when they square off in Nashville.
Two weeks ago, UT Martin was tied for No. 25 in the national media poll. Last week, Tennessee State grabbed the 25th spot, dropping the Skyhawks to the first spot outside the Top 25.
It remained the same way on Monday with Tennessee State (6-2) at No. 25 and UT Martin (5-3) just outside the poll.
Yeah, see you in Music City.
Both teams are looking up in the Big South-OVC standings and the Top 25 poll to Southeast Missouri (8-1), which for the second consecutive week was at No. 6 – its program’s all-time high. The Redhawks have a bye this week, keeping a close eye on UT Martin at Tennessee State.
The top three spots in the poll remained No. 1 North Dakota State (8-1), No. 2 Montana State (8-0) and No. 3 South Dakota State (6-2). UC Davis (7-1) rose one spot to No. 4 with South Dakota (6-2) dropping one to No. 5 following a 20-17, overtime loss at SDSU.
A national media panel selects the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll. A first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.
