Bayern Munich signed Jonas Urbig as their official successor to Manuel Neuer, which doesn’t bode well for loanee Alexander Nübel. He is currently playing for Stuttgart, who would like to keep him on a permanent basis. The only problem is his wages: they are too high for the Swabians.
Stuttgart would like to keep Alexander Nübel permanently, but his salary is too high for the club. Nübel’s Bayern salary is worth over €10m gross per year. Bayern are currently covering a part of it during his loan spell. Stuttgart’s highest earner is Deniz Undav with around €4.5m/year, as well as Angelo Stiller after his extension.

Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth concedes that at the current rate that the 28-year-old earns, it is beyond the reach of their club. “A theoretical option for a medium to long-term collaboration with Alexander Nübel is definitely a very exciting idea from a sporting perspective,” Wohlgemuth said. “However, it is one that is well removed from our reality. We neither have the economic conditions for that nor are we in a position to make a decision.”
