One of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 recruiting class is out of the Elite 11 Finals. Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy five-star and Tennessee commit George MacIntyre will not participate in the event this week due to injury, he revealed on social media Monday.
“Injury didn’t heal in time and won’t be able to make it, good luck to y’all boys tho,” MacIntyre wrote.
MacIntyre was one of the 20 quarterbacks in the 2025 class selected to participate at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. The premier annual quarterback event provides many of the top passers in the nation advanced, one-on-one instruction in a highly competitive setting with just one walking away with MVP honors. The three-day event begins Tuesday night at Manhattan Beach (Calif.) Mira Costa High with opening drills. Action continues Wednesday with a pro day and accuracy challenge before the event wraps up Thursday with the presentation of the final Elite 11 rankings and the Elite 11 MVP honor.

MacIntyre joins fellow five-star quarterback and No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 class Bryce Underwood as non-participants. Underwood did not attend an Elite 11 Regional event and therefore did not qualify for a spot in the finals. Still, 13 of the 17 highest rated quarterbacks in the latest Top247 rankings are set to battle throughout the three-day event.
MacIntryre ranks as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 30 overall recruit nationally in the 2025 class. The top-ranked prospect in Tennessee committed to the Volunteers in late January over Alabama and others on a long list of offers. Despite his verbal commitment to Tennessee, MacIntyre continues to be pursued by Alabama and Florida State.
“I’m 100 percent locked in,” MacIntyre told national college football recruiting analyst Tom Loy in May. “A lot of people say that, but I actually mean that. I’m not taking other visits and I’m not answering calls. I appreciate the schools still reaching out to me, but I’m solid with Tennessee.”
MacIntyre completed 67.3% of his passes for 3,229 yards and 25 touchdowns with 12 interceptions while adding three rushing touchdowns as a junior last season at Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy. He helped the Eagles reach the Tennessee Division II-AAA State Quarterfinals.
As a sophomore in 2022, MacIntyre completed 64.8% of his passes for 2,341 yards and 19 touchdowns with four interceptions while posting a 9-3 record as the starting quarterback.
MacIntyre is the nephew of former Colorado and current FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre. He is also the grandson of the late George MacIntyre, who served as the head coach at UT Martin (1975-77) and Vanderbilt (1979-1985).
