Texas A&M hosted many of their top in-state targets over the course of January and early February and new head coach Mike Elko and his staff have already landed two of those prospects in Top247 cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway and hard-hitting, instinctive linebacker Kelvion Riggins.
Elko and company are well positioned with several others moving forward.
One of those recruits is DeSoto (Texas) High Top247 running back Deondrae Riden who was hanging out in College Station at the beginning of the month. Recruited by Trooper Taylor he announced his commitment to the Aggies Monday night.
“It’s just feel right!” Riden told 247Sports. “The people and the atmosphere feel like home.”
Riden raved about his last visit.
“Man the thing continues to excite me is the people,” Riden said. “I’m big on relationships and everyone around there treats me like family.”
Texas A&M has a lot of what the 5-foot-10, 195-pound Riden is looking for.
“The main thing that catches my eye regarding Mike Elko and the staff is how everyone has the same goal and believes in each other,” Riden said. “It’s like everyone is on the same page and I’m loving it.”
As a junior Riden rushed for 1,044 yards and 12 touchdowns. The two-time state champ broke out as a sophomore with 1,339 rushing yards and 18 scores.
“Aggies making me a priority continues to make our relationship stronger and stronger,” Riden said. “Doing them type of things they’re starting to separate their self from others.”
Besides Texas A&M, Riden has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee, Texas Tech and USC. 247Sports tabs him as the No. 15 running back in the country.
