SEC Media Days is in Dallas this week, marking the unofficial start to the 2024 season in college football’s most competitive, newly-expanded league. Updated league-wide power rankings are out and there’s a chance more than half of the SEC will be ranked inside various preseason polls next month, a new record for a conference now strengthened by the additions of Texas and Oklahoma.
Not only did the SEC reload in recruiting this cycle, but several powers were transfer portal-focused as well, plugging roster holes with top-end talent from other leagues and some from opposing rivals within the conference. There’s a couple coaches on the hot seat too, specifically those in charge at Florida and Arkansas needing progress to maintain future employment.
This is not a ranking indicative of how we’re projecting teams will finish in 2024, but is more of a look at rosters approaching fall camp and which programs would win head-to-head matchups with each other if games were played next week. These power rankings could look very different by the end of September.
