When Notre Dame topped Penn State in the College Football Playoff semifinal, Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman made history as the first Black and first Asian-American head coach to make the national title game at the FBS level. Now, he’ll take on his alma mater Ohio State with a chance to win the first National Championship at Notre Dame since beating West Virginia in the 1989 Fiesta Bowl.
