Clemson transfer Toriano Pride, the 2024 college football transfer portal‘s No. 1 cornerback, will be playing next season at Missouri. He made his commitment to the Tigers and head coach Eli Drinkwitz this week.
“They’re getting a kid with NFL ability,” said 247Sports college football analyst Carl Reed, who coached Pride through the former top-40 recruit’s junior season of high school. “He’s going to be able to step in and start immediately, and they get a local hometown legend that’s coming home.”
Pride played his senior season for powerhouse East St. Louis (Ill.) High and had a lengthy offer list as a four-star recruit in the 2022 class. He chose Clemson over 26 other programs and figured to receive similar interest on the transfer market. The two-year veteran, who played in 26 games over his first two seasons at the college level, accumulating 36 tackles and nine pass breakups.
“He’s a versatile athlete, but he checks all the boxes,” said 247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna. “He can do everything there from an athletic standpoint, but I love the fact that he can play on the boundary. You can play him in the nickel, as well.
“This guy played really well against FAU, Wake Forest, two games that he started earlier in the season at Clemson. I love what he can do. I love his physical ability. I think he has a lot of technical maturation still left in his game, so this is a guy that I think, if he finds the right fit, he can come in and make an immediate impact.”
Pride is the No. 12 overall player in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings. He was the No. 6 cornerback and No. 40 prospect overall in the 2022 cycle.
