GLENDALE, Ariz. – For as much grief as the NCAA takes, their creation of scholastic live weekends in June — where prospects get to play with their high school teams in front of college coaches — was a stroke of genius. It allowed for many more players to get exposure, high school teams to get some summer work in, and the regional setups over the course of two weekends allows for schools to really lock in on the kids they need to see.
If there’s a grandaddy of them all when it comes to the June scholastic events, it has to be the Section 7. Played in State Farm stadium, the event features the very best talent from up and down the West Coast, draws talent from other areas of the country and the setup and organization have to be seen to be believed.
Friday, 247Sports began our annual journey to the desert where the only thing hotter than the temperature was the play inside of State Farm. Everywhere you turned there were players and the crowd of coaches was massive. 247Sports Director of Basketball Eric Bossi and National Basektbal Analyst Travis Branham were on hand and take a look at who stood out while we watched and which college coaches were watching and have recently offered.
