Illinois freshman offensive lineman Andrew Dennis is in the transfer portal, he tells 247Sports. Dennis was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class.
After enrolling early in January, Dennis went through spring ball with the Fighting Illini. He ended camp at center on Illini Inquirer’s post-spring projected depth chart.
The Mount Pleasant, Michigan, native cited his desire to be closer to home as a reason for transferring.
Dennis initially committed to Michigan State April 8, 2023.
However, the Spartans’ coaching change with Mel Tucker‘s September firing led Dennis to reopen his process.
He then considered Clemson and Penn State before choosing the Illini, committing Nov. 27 and signing Dec. 20.
A 6-foot-5, 275-pound high school tackle, Dennis was 247Sports’ No. 7 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class. He was a four-star (No. 162 nationally) and the No. 3 prospect in Michigan.
