After Ty Lue, you’re playing for Nick Nurse. Both are coaches known for being very strategic and innovative. Can you compare their styles? How are they similar and/or different? Nicolas Batum: Wow… In fact, the two are different. But their style is close, and there are also many similarities in their approach. They both give a lot of freedom in the game. Nick Nurse’s message is, “All I want is for you to be yourself on the court, no one else.” He told me, “I want you to be Nicolas Batum and bring your strengths to the team.” So, in the end, it’s pretty simple to play for him, and it was the same for Ty Lue. And in both cases, they are teams with good players around, so it makes my role very clear. In Philadelphia, my role is to keep the machine running while being myself, and these are two objectives that are aligned, that’s why I play a lot. I’m a starter, I play a lot. With Ty Lue, playing time was different because the roster was denser, with more big players, but my role was similar. The only difference is playing time, but the responsibilities and role are similar. -via Basket USA / February 1, 2024
