Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion Sean Strickland was unable to exact his revenge against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 312 last night (Sat., Feb. 8, 2025) as he lost a ho-hum unanimous decision inside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (watch highlights).
“We just have to admit it now, we have to admit it: Sean Strickland is not who he says he is,” Thomas said. “He’s not who he says he is. We want him to be something. He wants to be something. But he’s not that guy.
“He’s not the guy who’s going to go to the death. He says, ‘To the death.’ He didn’t go to the death. He didn’t even go deep,” Thomas added. “I’m not saying he’s not a great fighter. I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve to be where he’s at. But he’s not who he says he is. We’ve got to admit that.”
“Tarzan” is doing a vital aspect pre-fight; he is selling the scrap, but Thomas hit the nail on the head with Strickland because he sells something he doesn’t provide whatsoever … and it’s getting really old.
Before du Plessis, he promised a war against Paulo Costa, but it ended up being a jab and teep fest.
