Commitment season has arrived on the college football calendar as teams make big gains in recruiting following a busy stretch of official visits in recent months. The race for the best 2025 recruiting class in the ACC is heating up with Miami quickly closing the gap on Clemson, while several surprise teams round out the top five in the newly expanded conference. So, how is the ACC team race taking shape as June comes to an end?
The recruiting calendar is currently in a dead period for the next four weeks into late July. However, this is often the busiest time for new commitments after recruits sit down and weigh their options following on-campus visits.
Most of the top prospects in the 2025 class will be committed by the time the early signing period rolls around in December. So, these summer recruiting months are crucial to building a strong haul before the college football season kicks off.

Below is a closer look at the current ACC team recruiting rankings for the 2025 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite:
17. Florida State Seminoles — 137.83
Commits: 6
Florida State only has six commitments in the 2025 recruiting class as June comes to an end. However, the average industry-generated 247Sports Composite rating for those pledges is the highest in the country. Mike Norvell is known for reloading his roster through the transfer portal, and that approach seems to be consistent moving forward, which likely means Florida State is not going to bring in large classes from high school recruiting. Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines five-star offensive tackle Solomon Thomas is the headliner for the Seminoles this cycle alongside three other Top247 commits.
16. Louisville Cardinals — 145.96
Commits: 11
Jeff Brohm is arguably one of the most underrated coaches in college football with his ability to do more with less. Louisville ranks near the bottom of the ACC in team recruiting rankings for the 2025 class, but there are several strong commits in the early haul. Oxford (Ala.) three-star quarterback Mason Mims already has two years of starting experience in high school with 51 passing touchdowns. Buford (Ga.) three-star wideout Jordan Allen is a speedster that should fit well in the Louisville offensive scheme, as well.
15. NC State Wolfpack — 150.49
Commits: 11
Dave Doeren and NC State have a winning formula figured out with at least eight wins in six of the past seven seasons. Although this might not be the strongest class for the Wolfpack in recent years, it is one that could supplement what is already in place on the roster. NC State beat out Georgia and Virginia for Marshville (N.C.) Forest Hills three-star wide receiver Jerel Bolder this week. The Wolfpack also landed Columbia (S.C.) Richland Northeast three-star quarterback Will Wilson shortly after.
14. California Golden Bears — 152.00
Commits: 13
California may be a new member of the ACC, but the Golden Bears are not going to adjust their recruiting grounds. The West Coast remains a priority as head coach Justin Wilcox and his staff secured Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star athlete Jae’on Young earlier this month. The talented prospect projects to play defensive back for California and is considered one of the fastest cornerbacks out West.
13. Virginia Tech Hokies — 163.08
Commits: 12
Virginia Tech more than doubled the size of its commits list for the 2025 recruiting class in June with seven new pledges. Woodberry Forest (Va.) three-star safety Sheldon Robinson is the highest-rated newcomer for the Hokies this month alongside Ashburn (Va.) Stone Bridge three-star defensive lineman Christian Evans. However, Culpeper (Va.) Eastern View four-star linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh remains at the top of this class for Virginia Tech, which has a heavy influence of in-state recuits.
12. Wake Forest Demon Deacons — 163.73
Commits: 14
Wake Forest is still waiting on that early summer surge of new commitments with just one new pledge in June for the 2025 class. The Demon Deacons did add a combined seven commits to their haul during a stretch for March through May. That group included a pair of linebackers in Sparta (N.J.) Pope John XXIII three-star Tyler Houser and Covington (Ga.) Eastside three-star Bailey Benson. Wake Forest has never finished inside the top 50 nationally for the industry-generated 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings since the start of the modern era.
11. SMU Mustangs — 167.06
Commits: 12
Now that SMU finally has the power conference status, its success in recruiting could take off, especially considering the Mustangs are positioned in a hotbed for talented prospects. SMU is still searching for its first Top247 commit in the 2025 class, but does hold a pledge from DeSoto (Texas) four-star wide receiver Daylon Singleton. Conroe (Texas) three-star running back Dramekco Green will also remain in the Lone Star State. The Mustangs do hold commitments from five out-of-state recruits.
10. Virginia Cavaliers — 174.40
Commits: 15
Virginia needs to start showing improved results on the field as head coach Tony Elliott enters his third season. The Cavaliers have a solid haul so far in the 2025 recruiting class with several defensive prospects headlining the list of early commits. Virginia Beach (Va.) Kempsville three-star cornerback Christopher Spence and Berlin (Md.) Stephen Decatur three-star safety Davin Chandler — who committed to Virginia this week — are the two highest-rated pledges for Virginia.
9. Boston College Eagles — 176.75
Commits: 19
Boston College and new head coach Bill O’Brien held just one commitment prior to March. Since then, the Eagles have 18 (!!) new pledges to push their way into the top 10 of the ACC team recruiting race for the 2025 cycle. Although none of the commits rate as four-star prospects, there are a handful of high three-stars, including Westwood (Mass.) Xaverian Brothers defensive lineman Micah Amedee. Leesburg (Va.) Tuscarora three-star wide receiver Dawson Pough is among the most recent additions to the pledge class for Boston College.
8. North Carolina Tar Heels — 177.11
Commits: 12
North Carolina has just one new commitment in the 2025 class since late April. The Tar Heels are sliding in the ACC team recruiting rankings, but hold two four-star prospects in their early haul. Gainesville (Ga.) Top247 offensive tackle Alex Payne remains the highest-rated commit after making his decision in January. Union (Ky.) Cooper four-star edge rusher Austin Alexander was a strong pickup for the Tar Heels this spring.
7. Pittsburgh Panthers — 184.73
Commits: 17
Pittsburgh is also climbing in the ACC team recruiting rankings with all but one of its current list of commits coming since March. Belleville (Mich.) four-star safety Elijah Dotson is a big-time pickup for the Panthers as one of the top prospects in Michigan for the 2025 cycle. Olney (Md.) Good Counsel three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes could be a future threat in the Pittsburgh passing attack with his speed and ability to make plays after the catch.
6. Stanford Cardinal — 198.70
Commits: 18
Stanford owns the highest-ranked 2025 recruiting class of the three ACC newcomers. The Cardinal continue to add key commitments to they early haul as their build around Murrieta (Calif.) Valley four-star quarterback Bear Bachmeier. Fishers (Ind.) four-star wide receiver JonAnthony Hall is the second Top247 commit of the Tory Taylor era for Stanford. Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman three-star linebacker Landon McComber is also among the latest to join the commitment class for Stanford, which beat out a handful of other West Coast teams for his pledge earlier this month.
5. Duke Blue Devils — 198.81
Commits: 23
Can Manny Diaz piece together a top 30 national recruiting class in his first full cycle as head coach at Duke? The Blue Devils are in position as June comes to an end with almost two-dozen early commits. Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Top247 linebacker Cameron Smith gave Duke a big boost in the ACC team race back in February as the highest-rated commit for the program since 2022. This could be a fairly large class for the Blue Devis by the time the cycle is complete.
4. Syracuse Orange — 199.33
Commits: 27
What Fran Brown and the new coaching staff at Syracuse have done in a short period of time in upgrading the talent on the roster is impressive. That trend looks to continue with a strong 2025 recruiting class that is already closing in on 30 commits. The Orange added nine more pledges so far in June to maintain momentum after a strong spring. Wyncote (Pa.) Cheltenham three-star edge rusher Sharlandiin Strange is still the highest-rated commit after making his decision in late January.
3. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets — 202.19
Commits: 19
Brent Key is determined to build his alma mater back into a consistent winning program again. After leading the Yellow Jackets to their first bowl appearance in five years, momentum translated to recruiting where they currently own a top 20 national class. Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek Top247 cornerback Dalen Penson is the highest-rated commit and one of 16 new pledges for Georgia Tech in June. The Yellow Jackets also hold a commitment from Rabun Gap (Ga.) Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School four-star offensive lineman Justin Hasenhuetl.
2. Miami Hurricanes — 212.50
Commits: 14
Miami is also among the big risers in the team recruiting rankings for the 2025 class with eight new commitments in June. The Hurricanes hold pledges from five four-star prospects, including a trio of Top247 recruits. Miami (Fla.) Central four-star cornerback Amari Wallace is among the latest additions to the class for head coach Mario Cristobal and Co. He joins Leo (Ind.) four-star tight end Brock Schott and Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star running back Girard Pringle Jr. as the three highest-rated commits.
1. Clemson Tigers — 237.83
Commits: 13
Clemson is on pace to produce its highest-ranked recruiting class since 2021. The Tigers lead the ACC and are among the top 10 national classes heading into July. Seven Top247 commits — five of which rank inside the top 100 individually — highlight an impressive haul for Dabo Swinney and the coaching staff in Death Valley. There is a big-time trio of defensive lineman at the top of his list for Clemson: Florence (S.C.) South four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams, Durham (N.C.) Southern four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell and Norfolk (Va.) Maury four-star edge rusher Ari Watford.
