Bayern Munich put in a full game performance to shut out Werder Bremen 3-0 in Friday’s Bundesliga matchup, a sharp contrast to its previous league game against Holstein Kiel — when the Bavarians leaked two stoppage time goals to turn a sleepy affair into a frenzied finish.
For Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer and his teammates, it was a relief.
“Last week against Kiel things looked good for most of the game but then we conceded three,” Neuer noted after the match (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We’ve done better today and were disciplined for 90 minutes. It was very important to keep a clean sheet. We had many chances in the second half. We have tough games incoming with Celtic [in the Champions League] twice and Leverkusen. But we’ll do everything to be successful.”
Can the Bavarians keep up the professional efforts now that Champions League weeks are back? Bayern will need to be in top form to make the Round of 16 proper.
