The final OKTAGON MMA event took place today (Sun., Dec. 29, 2024) inside the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic. Before the three-championship fight finale to close the show, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight Igor Severino won his debut with the promotion via split decision against former OKTAGON MMA champ Jonas Magard.
The fight was very competitive, and it all came down to the third round. Severino won the first round convincingly, and then Magard fought back, taking the second.
Magard started the third round strong but ultimately decided to shoot for a takedown, which cost him the fight because Severino reversed him and ended the fight on top, landing strikes.
Severino, 21, infamously bit his opponent, Andre Lima, earlier this year at UFC Vegas 89 in March, and UFC CEO Dana White immediately released him.
His job-ending mistake has not stopped Severino from embracing it, though. The Brazilian walked out in a Hannibal Lector mask for his OKTAGON debut and, after his win, placed some fake teeth in the cage.
The 21-year-old called for an immediate title shot after his big win, and with as much attention he brought to himself, he might just get it.
