It’s no secret that former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping currently has one eye from his fighting days, but seeing “The Count” take his eyeball out is still a dramatic experience for most.
Earlier this week, Bisping joined the JAXXON Podcast and ended up discussing his impaired vision in detail. Remember, Bisping suffered a detached retina at the hands of a Vitor Belfort head kick back in 2013. He experienced additional issues following that incident and ended up getting a fake eye to cut his losses, but still continued his fighting career.
Fight fans didn’t even know about Bisping’s fake eye until the end of his UFC tenure. That’s because the former UFC champion went out of his way to hide the impairment from doctors during pre-fight medical exams for 11 total bouts. It probably wasn’t the safest choice for Bisping and his one good eye, but “The Count” is a fighter at heart and wasn’t going to call it quits.
Ironically, Bisping was joined on this week’s JAXXON Podcast by former opponent, Luke Rockhold. As the panel started to ask Bisping questions about his fake eye the current UFC color commentator decided to pop it up on the spot. This left Rockhold and the rest of the podcast members squirming in the studio. It was pretty gnarly, but a stark reminder of what the fight game can do to even the best of fighters.
